When I began this piece I had no idea what I wanted to do as all I had at the time was a series of red rectangles and not much else. Without much of an idea i began to sketch out multiple different concepts before making one about a lady in space. Taking that sketch and those red rectangles I began the process of turning the sketch into a reality. It took multiple screens and quite a bit of paint to make not mention the number of mistakes and failure that happened along the way. the hardest part of the project was making the stencils for the lady as cutting through a transparency is not easy work. in the end I was able to bring my vision of a lady in space a reality even with all the difficulty silkscreening put me through

The Poster project was a project that was meant to test our skills in taking and working with a commissioner which for the project was one of class mate. the only deal in the project outside of listening to your commissioner was them having to choose a book or movie that the artist had not seen. For all its popularity I have never seen the shining so that allowed my commissioner to choose it as their commissioned work. the hardest part of doing this was that I pushed into looking at other avenues for references and resources as my commissioner told me what they wanted. In the end and after so much work they were happy with the effort and I was proud of the work itself.

When I was young working at a place like the movie theaters was suppose to be one of the coolest jobs ever. When i finally got to work in the theater itself things ended up being much different then I had imagined early in life. The Theater of the Absurd is a set of three comic strips that takes some of the experiences that I had working in the theaters and exaggerate them. The first two of the set go over different duties that members of the film crew had to do while the bottom last strip was about the restrictions on break times. After working the theaters i found almost any job i took to be a easier than the mad house the theater could become on certain days of the week.

In life everyone is afraid of something maybe it’s a spider that crawls on the walls or a snake that slitters coming ever closer, even the smallest of rats could scare the bravest of souls, in short everyone has some kind of a phobia. The idea itself started with the image of the tower tarot which represents a kind of uncontrollable change in a persons life so I sought to create my own version of that tarot card, but that idea slowly changed itself as I pressed on. During the process I came upon a bump in the road as the tower was done and ready for the next step I was at a lost for what to do next as I had nothing to fill the windows of the tower with and it would look rather boring without something of interest to place within those hollowed windows, but I found what I sought very soon after. On my way to class I had fought against one of my few phobias in life, spiders which is what I thought back to when I was thinking of what to put in the towers window’s and I rolled with that, slowly turning the tarot tower idea into the tower of phobias. Along with adding phobias to every window I add texture to the tower making the end result look even more surreal.
The inspirations for the design of this piece come from my love of anime and from one of my more bizarre inspirations of Czech republic and Russian stop motion animation. The combined form of the two is what i really like as an end result that formed the basis of my project. |
No matter where you go, no matter where you hide ads will always find you no matter how hard you try to avoid them. today’s world is filled to the brim with ad’s made by companies that are trying their damned hardest to get you to desire their goods even if you don’t need it or want it. many, but not all, companies often spend time creating goods that are either pointless or can be easily substituted with a better alternative that can also be easily acquired. these same companies spend many resources that could go towards more important goods that can benefit people more. overall the project was mostly how i feel about how resources that could allocated for something more important are going to cheap and ultimately pointless goods that have no other impact on our world other than to make a few bucks on it.

Digital painting has always been a big interest to me because of the utility it brings to the art world. This work is my first attempt venturing into the world of digital painting. The subject I chose were a few gems laid out next to one another. learning to paint digitally was tough at first due to some differences between how digital and traditional painting work but as i kept working on it the painting became easier. Overall the work that I put really paid off for a first time venture into the world of digital painting.
